Meet Dana Redd

Dana L. Redd was elected to the Camden City Council on June 5th, 2001 and serves as board liaison to the Department of Administration and co-chairs the Law Department and Department of Health & Human Services.  She is a lifelong resident of Camden City, who has spent the majority of her career working for the public sector, in both city and county government.

A graduate of Rutgers - Camden, Ms. Redd was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree for Business Studies in 1996. She is the former Chief of Staff and Confidential Aide to Camden County Freeholder Riletta L. Cream. Ms. Redd presently works as the Division Director of Operations for the Department of Buildings & Operations and serves as a Special Projects Coordinator/Camden City Liaison to Freeholder Director Jeffrey L. Nash.

In addition to her other Council duties, Ms. Redd serves on several Special Committees:  the Camden City Friends of the Library, who in partnership with city & county government, hope to build two brand new libraries for the inner city residents, and the Kennedy Plaza Project, an endeavor to bring public art to the City of Camden.

Ms. Redd continues to contribute her time and talents to a number of organizations throughout the region. Her affiliations include:  the American Red Cross Camden County Chapter, Good Neighbor Awards Dinner Committee, the Camden County Board of Social Services, West Jersey Health & Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees, Camden Eye Center, and the New Jersey Redistricting Commission. She has also served on the Board of Directors for the Camden County Council of Girl Scouts and Literacy Volunteers of America/Camden County.

She is a recipient of the African-American Women's Network 1998 Bronze Star Award and Respond, Inc. Award for Outstanding Leadership In Government. Most recently, she has been selected to receive the Camden County East Branch NAACP 2002 Visionary Leader Award.

Her favorite quote is taken from Shirley Chislom, the first Black woman elected to the United States Congress, who said it best: "Service is the rent you pay for room on this earth." Ms. Redd currently resides in Camden along with her family.
